Ducati found itself in the position of having to start a new season with a totally new team. The team had to demonstrate that the new ‘weapon’ they had at their disposal, the 996 Testastretta Superbike, had the necessary qualities to bring back the Riders’ crown to Borgo Panigal and confirm the Constructors’ title won the previous year.
