The book “Motorradrennen im Rheinland” describes the time when the motorcycle played an extraordinary role in German economic life. In the immediate post-war period, motorcycles were initially virtually the only motor vehicles that could be used civilian and played a key role in rebuilding the devastated cities. But at the same time, motorcycling developed very quickly through the local motorsport clubs. In this book, motorcycling is presented as part of local history, especially in Rhineland towns and communities. About 200 interviewed eyewitnesses shared their “experiences” and contributed about 180 historical photographs to the book illustration.

Das Buch “Motorradrennen im Rheinland” beschreibt die Zeit, in der das Motorrad eine außerordentliche Rolle im Wirtschaftsleben Deutschlands spielte.
In der unmittelbaren Nachkriegszeit waren Motorräder zunächst fast die einzigen zivil einsetzbaren Kraftfahrzeuge und hatten maßgeblichen Anteil am Wiederaufbau der zerstörten Städte.
Doch nebenher entwickelte sich der Motorradsport über die örtlichen Motorsportvereine ganz rasant. In dem vorliegendem Buch wird der Motorradsport als Teil der Ortsgeschichte, meist rheinischer Städte und Gemeinden dargestellt. Etwa 200 befragte Zeitzeugen gaben aus ihrer Sicht die gemachten “Erfahrungen” weiter und trugen mit ca. 180 historisch Fotos zur Buchillustration bei.
