SWEET DREAMS – THE LIFE AND WORK OF REX McCANDLESS
WRITTEN BY GORDON SMALL

Published in 1989 by the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum

The pages of social history are heavy with the names of people who left school with only a tenuous hold of education, and who went on to commercial glory. Rex McCandless is a classic example, but not a reassuring one to those who would seek to follow him. He established a buoyant Belfast engineering business, mainly in earth-moving equipment. Whether it was motorcycles, flying machines, brickmaking, or cross country vehicles, he applied original thought to engineering problems which hitherto seemed insoluble.

The book (21 x 15 cm) has been used, but it is in a good condition. Soft cover, 24 pages, English text.
